Dr. Kara Uegawachi has enjoyed being a part of the dental community for 20 years.  She received a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from the University of Hawaii.  She then continued on to graduate from the University of Missouri at Kansas City, School of Dentistry, in 1998 with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree.  During her education, she was awarded the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry Student Award of Merit.

She moved to Seattle in 2002 and focused on serving the dental needs of underpriviledged children and adults at the Neighborcare Health Dental Clinics.  During this time, she served as an Affiliate Faculty member at the University of Washington, School of Dentistry, pediatric department.  She also spent many years of her career in private practice in the states of Colorado and Washington.

Dr. Kara feels great satisfaction in helping patients overcome dental fears.  Dental phobias prevent people from getting preventive dental care and necessary treatment.  Dr. Kara's calm demeanor, patience, and gentle touch has successfully helped patients overcome their fears of going to the dentist.

"The biggest reward is when people leave their appointment and comment, 'this is the first time in 20 years that I haven't cried at the dentist'."

Dr. Kara Uegawachi was born and raised in Kailua, Hawaii, where she still has family and visits frequently.  She lives in the Madrona neighborhood of Seattle with her husband, children, and cats.  She enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and practicing yoga.
